Day 4 Breakfast at the Log Cabin Café was a tasty way to start
the day. After turning in the key
at the Grizzly, we were finally along the Chief Joseph Scenic Byway by We stopped in Cody for Lunch. Cody was named after Buffalo Bill Cody, famous for his wild west shows of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. It was the early afternoon and upon leaving took a wrong which took us out of town on the southern Hwy 14 rather then northern Hwy 14A, which was the more twisty of the two. When we found a road that would intersect the two, we noticed that there was a huge rain and thunder squall engulfing the northern Hwy 14A. It was starting to rain and hail on us, so we decided to continue on the southern route and try and out run the impending lighting and rain. We continued on and shortly we did find our way out of the rain and into the edge of the front. Sunshine again! We followed this road up through Greybull where we found a competitor to the famous Museum Of Flight in Seattle. Unfortunately this on wasn’t open on the day we were there. However I somehow don’t think we missed much We continued on to Shell and onward to Sheridan WY where we again met up with Greench440 at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. We enjoyed a hearty dinner and a few beers along with a glass of Scotch. Dave always travels with his Scotch and glass to enjoy a nice libation at the end of the day. I must admit, it really did hit the spot! The next day we would finally arrive in Custer, but we had a few more things to see along the way. |
